Policies

Our work is guided by the best interests of the child, a safe everyday environment and every child’s right to be heard, recognised and accepted for who they are. We take into account the children’s individual needs, wishes and interests, and we strengthen their participation in everyday activities. We foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere in which joy, play, learning together and experiences of success are central. A wide range of outdoor activities, nature and environmental education, art education and practising a sustainable lifestyle are an important part of what we do. Our early childhood education and care centre is a stakeholder in the Green Flag scheme.

Working with families

Cooperation between the early years education team and families is based on open interaction, where we listen to and value one another. We consider it important to set aside sufficient time to get to know each other and to introduce early years education and care, as these are vital for establishing a relationship of trust and open cooperation between the nursery and the family. Before a child starts at the nursery, an early years education agreement is drawn up for each child.

Daily contact and early years education meetings are the most important forms of our cooperation. The aim of these meetings is to draw on our shared knowledge and jointly agree on approaches to support your child’s growth and development. These discussions take place every autumn with the guardians. At the same time, an early years education plan is drawn up for the child. The City of Tampere’s early years education plan can be found on the city’s website.

We use eVaka as a communication tool for parents and carers. The child’s childcare bookings, treatment times and changes in childcare needs are reported via the eVaka app. In the group’s blog, parents and carers can follow their child’s group’s daycare activities and events.

Partners

We work in close cooperation with the public health nurse at local schools and child health clinics. Where necessary, we also cooperate with speech and language therapists, family counselling clinics and social workers. Our unit’s special needs teacher for early years education is Maria Jokinen.

On-call hours

During school holidays, we either operate on a reduced basis or close the nursery. There are no pre-school or after-school club activities during school holidays. Please enquire about on-call hours, as we time our staff’s holidays to coincide with school holidays.
