Tullikamari reopens with Tampere Jazz Happening
The doors of Tullikamari will reopen to the public after an almost two-year break. One of Tampere’s most important cultural and event venues has undergone an extensive renovation project, improving the functionality, safety and accessibility of the facilities for years to come.
The renewed facilities will be operated by Tampereen Kulttuurikamari Oy, which is responsible for launching event operations at Tullikamari.
“We are genuinely excited to be organising events at Tullikamari once again. It is particularly rewarding that the very first event in the programme will be an internationally recognised festival,” says Janne Laurila, Programme Manager at Tampereen Kulttuurikamari Oy.
Tampere Jazz Happening opens a new chapter
The first event to be held at Tullikamari will be the 45th Tampere Jazz Happening, taking place from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The internationally acclaimed jazz festival will return to its roots in a building that has played a significant role in the event’s history for decades.
This year’s programme has been curated by the festival’s new Artistic Director, Martyna van Nieuwland. The Netherlands is the festival’s theme country, and the programme features a diverse selection of contemporary Finnish and international jazz.
Tullikamari offers a diverse programme of events
In addition to concerts, club nights and festivals, Tullikamari will continue to host events organised by the City of Tampere, associations and community organisations. One of the first events of the autumn season will be the Tampere for All Volunteer Fair, taking place on 10 November and bringing together around 60 organisations and communities to present volunteering opportunities.
The free event will feature speeches and discussions on topics including community spirit, inclusion and the importance of volunteering. The keynote address will be delivered by philosopher Frank Martela, and Miljoonasade will perform as a duo.
“From the City’s perspective, it is wonderful that Tullikamari will once again host representatives of different art forms as well as events for young people, families with children and older residents. Tullikamari has served as a venue for numerous arts festivals, which can now finally return home as well,” says Marianna Lehtinen, Head of Public Cultural Services for the City of Tampere.
The programme features familiar favourites and exciting new names
Dozens of events have already been announced for the remainder of 2026 and the beginning of 2027, with some performances already sold out.
The programme includes established Finnish favourites such as Apulanta, Olavi Uusivirta, Stam1na and Popeda, alongside newer acts including Erika Vikman, Litku Klemetti, Josén Pimeä Puoli and Nenerchy.
Klubi’s nightclub events will return during the first week of November. Early next year, Pakkahuone will once again host its popular Tuesday afternoon dances and Thursday evening dances.
“There are already dozens of events in our autumn and early-year programme, featuring both familiar favourites and exciting new names. I encourage everyone to explore the full programme on the Tullikamari website,” Laurila says.
