Tampere Day celebrations span a long weekend – explore the programme!

This article highlights just a few of the events, the full programme and event details are available on the Tampere Day website as well as from the Tampere Event calendar. The celebration weekend programme is made with events submitted by a range of organisers through an open call.

Large crowds are expected at Tampere Day events, so please travel by public transport, on foot or by bicycle. Share the Tampere Day atmosphere on social media using the hashtag #TampereenPäivä.

Youth events offer cultural experiences

• Tampere Day at the Youth Cultural Centre will showcase art by young people in a variety of forms on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October. The programme includes two art exhibitions and live performances by young artists. Visitors can also get creative in a collage workshop.
• On Saturday 3 October from 5 pm to 10 pm, Haifest 2026 – a free event for 13–29-year-olds – will take place in the grounds of Haihara Art Centre in Kaukajärvi. The programme includes a pizza van and hot chocolate bar, a DJ workshop, a rap lyrics workshop, a jewellery-making workshop, duck rodeo and a visit from alpacas.
• ATYPICAL dance group will host a Random Play Dance event in Sorsapuisto on Saturday 3 October from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Tampere Runs event temporarily closes sections of streets

On Saturday, 3 October, from 12 noon to 4 pm, runners will take on five- and ten-kilometre routes as well as a half-marathon course in central Tampere. The Tampere Runs event will temporarily close the following sections of streets:

• Paasikivenkatu eastbound between Mustalahti and Verstaankatu, approximately 1–1.30 pm
• Kauppakatu/Aleksis Kiven katu closed approximately 12.20–1.15 pm
• Satakunnankatu closed approximately 12.32–12.40 pm and 12.58–1.08 pm 

Guided walking tours

A wide range of themed guided walking tours will take place across the city over the weekend. On Saturday 3 October, tours will depart between 10 am and 6 pm, while on Sunday 4 October they will run between 11 am and 3 pm. All tours are free, and advance registration is not required.

The Old City Hall and the renewed City Hall open their doors to visitors

Free guided tours of the Old City Hall will take place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October. The tours offer an opportunity to discover the history and many stories of this Neo-Renaissance building, completed in 1890. Advance registration is required.

Tampere City Hall will open its doors on Saturday 3 October from 10 am to 3 pm. Explore the rooms on the ground floor, admire the artwork in the City Council Chamber and enjoy a varied programme for the whole family.

Events for families

On Sunday 4 October from noon to 4 pm, visitors can explore emergency vehicles and other rescue equipment at the Central Fire Station. The Fire Museum will also be open to the public during the event.

Also on Sunday 4 October from 2 pm to 5.30 pm, Varala Sports Institute will host an active family event featuring a hobby-horse course, ball games and disc golf, among other activities.
