Tullikamari reopens for culture and events

The extensive renovation of the Tullikamari Cultural Centre has been completed, and the renewed facilities will be brought into use at the beginning of September. The first events will take place at the turn of October and November, when the Tampere Jazz Happening launches event operations at Pakkahuone and Klubi.

The renovation project of the Tullikamari Cultural Centre has reached a significant milestone, as the building has been approved for use. The official handover of the premises will take place on 31 August, after which Tullikamari will be transferred to its users on 1 September.

The renovation of Tullikamari has been an extensive undertaking aimed at ensuring the building’s functionality and attractiveness as one of Tampere’s key event venues well into the future. The project has improved the facilities to meet current event, safety and accessibility requirements while preserving the building’s culturally and historically significant features.

– More than 500 professionals took part in the renovation. I am delighted that the project was completed on schedule, says Minnakaisa Kuivalainen, Executive Director of Tampere Music Festivals.

The renewed facilities will be operated by Tampereen Kulttuurikamari Oy, which is responsible for launching event operations at Tullikamari.

Tampere Jazz Happening opens a new chapter

The first event to be held at Tullikamari will be the 45th Tampere Jazz Happening, taking place from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The internationally acclaimed jazz festival will return to its roots in a building that has played a significant role in the event’s history for decades.

– We are genuinely excited to be organising events at Tullikamari once again. This grand old venue has finally received the renovation it deserved, and the new solutions significantly improve both visitor comfort and practical functionality. We already have dozens of events booked in our calendar, ranging from concerts to gala events. It is particularly exciting that the first event in the venue will be the Tampere Jazz Happening, which has been recognised as Europe's best jazz festival, says Janne Laurila, Program Manager at Tampereen Kulttuurikamari Oy.

The programme for the Tampere Jazz Happening will be published on 1 September.
