The countdown to the Men's Floorball World Championships begins Thursday at Tampere’s Central Square

In the coming years, Finland will host two major international floorball tournaments, with the Men’s World Championships taking place in Tampere in December 2026 and the Women’s World Championships in Turku in December 2027. On Thursday, 27 August there are exactly 100 days left until the Men’s Floorball World Championships. This milestone will be celebrated at Tampere’s Central Square with an event for the whole family.

At this free event, you can try your hand at floorball, meet familiar faces from the worlds of sports and entertainment, participate in contests, and meet the World Championship mascot.

Tampere and Turku have assembled teams featuring top athletes and familiar faces from their cities.

The captain of the Team Tampere is Mayor Ilmari Nurminen. The team also includes Saana Kujala, Jyrki Laaksonen, Arttu Laitinen, Nella Lipsanen, Jukka Peltola, Joona Rantala, Julia Saarinen, Nico Salo, Nina Taipale, Juha Torvinen and Vesa Toskala.

The Turku team is led by Chief of Staff Tuomas Heikkinen, and its members are Maria Bang, Susanna Juntunen, Salma Koskelainen, Eemeli Kouki, Veera Kuosmanen, Olli Laine, Jenna Saario, Laura Satamo, Iida Sulonen and Maria Viitala.

The Men’s Floorball World Championships will be held in Tampere from 5–13 December, 2026. The preliminary round matches will be played at Hakametsä and the Kauppi Sports Center, and the championship matches will take place at Nokia Arena.
