Call for community grant applications “City residents’ solutions to sustainability challenges” is now open. The amount of each individual grant is between 5,000 and 60,000 euros, with a total of 180,000 euros available.
Applications can be submitted until the end of September. Decisions on grant recipients will be made in December 2026, and community projects must be carried out between 1 February and 30 September 2027.
– Community grants benefit everyone, as they enable communities to develop concrete initiatives that promote climate resilience, which also benefit other city residents,’ says Riina Lundman from the University of Tampere, part of the Urban Prosumers project.
At the same time, the City of Tampere gains important knowledge and experience of resident participation, co-development and climate work with city residents, which helps the city to develop its own climate and nature initiatives.
– Throughout the spring, we gathered information on residents’ experiences and views at various community events. The material has been compiled, and we hope it will also support and inspire the planning of community projects. The material is available to everyone and can be found on the community grant information page, says Elina Pulliainen from the City of Tampere.
The grants are made feasible by the European Commission’s financial support to third parties (FSTP funding). The Urban Prosumers project redistributes part of its EU funding to smaller organisations through a grant application process.
The Urban Prosumers project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program and involves the University of Tampere, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, the City of Tampere, Ekokumppanit, and MDI.
An informational webinar on applying for community grants will be held on Wednesday, 12 August, from 3 pm to 4 pm. Anyone interested is asked to register for the webinar by 10 August at the latest. The registration link for the webinar can be found below. The webinar will be held in Finnish and will be recorded.
To help clarify project ideas, a brainstorming session will also be held on Tuesday 25 August from 2.30 pm to 5 pm at Puutarhakatu 11 A, Tampere (Pantin talo, 3rd floor, Ekokumppanit). No prior registration is required for the brainstorming session, and you are welcome to join at a time that works best for you.
