Pre-primary education and basic education will begin their school year on 6 August 2026.
A total of approximately 2 000 children will begin pre-primary education in the municipality. A total of approximately 18 400 students will begin basic education (grades 1–9), of whom about 1 800 are first-graders.
One of the main themes of the upcoming school year is promoting an active lifestyle, a focus that was introduced into pre-primary education and basic education through a legislative change.
Parking enforcement officers will be on hand to monitor traffic around schools as the school year begins
As the new school year begins, it is important that everyone on the road exercises caution and pays attention to traffic safety.
Parking enforcement will be conducting enhanced safety checks for vulnerable road users near schools on 6–7 August 2026. Parking enforcement will focus, among other things, on vehicles parked in front of pedestrian crossings and on pedestrian and bicycle paths and lanes.
