The Laikku Mystery Game places players in the middle of a time distortion where lost objects from the past, forgotten characters, and significant events have become mixed with the present. Players take on the role of time guardians and must solve eight mysteries to restore the course of history.
The game is set entirely in Tampere’s Kirjastonpuisto and makes use of the park’s historical atmosphere combined with digital storytelling. Players move through the park using their mobile devices, search for clues, and solve puzzles either together or independently.
The Laikku Mystery Game offers residents and visitors an experimental way to explore Kirjastonpuisto. It encourages people to move around the area, observe their surroundings, and discover the park’s layers of stories.
“By encouraging people to spend time in the park, the game strengthens a sense of community and creates a safer atmosphere as people interact and share the space. Players’ experiences and observations can also support the park’s development into an even more pleasant urban environment,” says Anniina Autero, Development Manager at the City of Tampere.
The game is well suited for all ages, for group play, families, and shared experiences. When played independently, it is recommended for ages 12 and up. To play, users need the free Actionbound app, available in Google Play and Apple’s App Store by searching for “Laikku.” The game lasts approximately 45 minutes.
