UMK Returns to Tampere in 2027 – Tampere Heads to Vienna This Week
– We are truly delighted to welcome UMK back to Tampere once again. UMK plays an important role in the Finnish music scene, and for us as a city, it is important to support the music industry. The event’s strong visibility throughout the city strengthens Tampere’s position as a major hub for music and cultural events, says Saara Saarteinen, Head of Events for the City of Tampere.
In 2027, UMK will once again be visible throughout Tampere in many ways, including various side events and experiences across the city. The competition brings extensive visibility to Tampere both nationally and internationally. Every year, the event attracts thousands of fans of new Finnish music from across Finland and abroad.
– Tampere has proven to be an excellent city for organizing UMK. The city’s agile organization enables smooth cooperation and efficient event production. At the same time, the whole city seems to live and breathe Finland’s biggest music show, as UMK is strongly present in the cityscape and event atmosphere, says Anssi Autio, Executive Producer of the Contest for New Music.
Tampere Brings Finnish Sauna to Eurovision Week in Vienna
During Eurovision week, Tampere has created its own dedicated lounge area in Vienna centered around the Finnish sauna experience. The main attraction, a Finnish sauna, will be heated at Riesenradplatz in the Prater amusement park area from 12 to 16 May, daily from 12:00 to 20:00. The project announcement alone generated significant international interest, and thousands of Eurovision fans are expected to visit the area. The sauna in the area was made possible by AITO Sauna. The Finnish Sauna Society is also collaborating in the area.
– Tampere, the Sauna Capital of the World, is currently attracting interest from around the globe. It is incredible to have the opportunity to introduce Finnish sauna culture to visitors arriving from all over the world. In addition to sauna experiences, we also want to show our support for this year’s amazing Eurovision artists, Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen. Throughout the week, visitors can also pick up fan merchandise items from our area, comments Tuomas Paloniemi, PR and Media Specialist at Visit Tampere.
