The application period for Summer Entrepreneurship Vouchers opens on April 14, 2026
The Summer Entrepreneurship Voucher is worth 350 euros and it is intended for young residents of Tampere born between 2005 and 2011. In the summer of 2026, the City of Tampere will distribute a total of 200 Summer Entrepreneurship Vouchers as part of the My Summer Job as an Entrepreneur campaign. Applications can be submitted from April 14 to May 15, 2026.
Applications are processed during the application period, and vouchers are granted subject to the availability. Applications can be submitted using the online application form on the City of Tampere’s Summer job website under "Summer Job as an Entrepreneur". In the application, the young person describes the plan for a summer entrepreneurship experiment.
Recipients of the Summer Entrepreneurship Voucher are required to participate in a coaching session, where they receive practical tips and encouragement for launching a summer business. The coaching sessions will be held on two alternative dates: April 22 and May 4, 2026.
Summer entrepreneurs are also invited to a mandatory kick-off event on June 2, 2026.
Summer entrepreneurship helps to address the challenging summer job situation
The City of Tampere wants to be an active contributor in supporting youth employment at a time when the working life is changing rapidly. The Summer Entrepreneurship Voucher and the services associated with the campaign offer young people a low-threshold opportunity to experiment, learn, and grow through entrepreneurship, as summer entrepreneurship is increasingly seen as a skill of the future, not just an alternative to traditional summer jobs.
– The summer job situation for young people is currently challenging, and the Summer Entrepreneurship Voucher is one way to address this. We want to support young people in creating summer jobs for themselves and strengthening their working life and entrepreneurial skills, which they will benefit from in the future, says Elina Wallin, Service Director at the City of Tampere Employment and Growth Services.
The campaign is being developed in collaboration with local partners
The Summer Job as an Entrepreneur campaign is being implemented in collaboration with regional actors. Participants include Pirkanmaan Uusyrityskeskus ry, Ensimetri and Tampere 4H Association. Partners offer summer entrepreneurs coaching, mentoring, and practical tips throughout the summer. Registration for these is already open.
Summer entrepreneurs have access to workshops, coaching, and guidance where young people can develop their business ideas, share experiences with other summer entrepreneurs, and consider continuing their business activities after the summer.
– For young people summer entrepreneurship can work as a pathway for the future. An idea born during the summer can continue as a hobby, as a side business alongside studies, as an experience that guides their studies, or even future career. Through summer entrepreneurship, young people learn to recognize their own skills, put an idea into practice, and work with customers. At the same time, they gain a realistic picture of working life, their own strengths, and the skills they will need in the future. Summer entrepreneurship also offers young people a safe environment to experiment, succeed, and, if necessary, fail –learning is at the heart of the entire journey, says coordinator Nea Systä from the City of Tampere Employment and Growth Services.
My Summer Job as an Entrepreneur campaign is a joint Tampere-based campaign aimed at offering young people the opportunity to try entrepreneurship during the summer. The campaign involves the City of Tampere Employment and Growth Services, Ohjaamo Tampere, Pirkanmaan Uusyrityskeskus ry, Ensimetri Tampere 4H Association, Tredu, and International House Tampere. Pirkanmaan Yrittäjät serves as the campaign’s patron.
