City of Tampere to project memorial illumination on the Tammerkoski power plant wall in honor of Pauli Mustajärvi

The City of Tampere will organize a memorial illumination from January 2 to January 4, between 4:00 p.m. and midnight, to honor the memory of Tampere-born music legend Pauli Mustajärvi.

The illumination can be viewed, for example, from the banks of Koskipuisto Park.

The illumination can be viewed, for example, from the banks of Koskipuisto Park. As part of the memorial, an image of Pauli Mustajärvi will be projected onto the wall of the Tammerkoski power plant. 

Mustajärvi passed away on December 26, 2025.

– Pauli Mustajärvi was an inseparable part of Tampere’s cultural history and the story of Manserock. Through this memorial illumination, the city pays tribute to a legend of Finnish rock music and his life’s work. It also offers residents an opportunity to pause and reflect in remembrance of Mustajärvi, says Event Manager Saara Saarteinen from the City of Tampere.

Pauli Mustajärvi Also Remembered in a Live YLE Broadcast

The City of Tampere is also partnering with YLE in organizing a memorial broadcast live from Tampere Hall. "Pate Mustajärvi – Suomirockin legenda" -will be available on Yle Areena and broadcast on Yle TV2 on Saturday, January 3, at 9:00 p.m.
