A third line is being planned for superbuss services – two would start in 2028

Nysse plans to expand superbus services to three lines, with lines 7 and 8 starting in summer 2028 and line 4 later in the 2030s. In the new model, line 8 would be operated by Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne Oy and line 7 would be put out to tender.

Nysse has designed a new type of superbus service that offers reliable, safe, and comfortable travel on key routes. The service focuses on frequent departures and good punctuality. The lines have been designed for areas not served by the tramway.

In the original plan, superbus services were to be launched on route 8 (Annala–Haukiluoma) in 2027 and on route 7 (Linnainmaa–Tesoma) in 2031. The plan has been prepared in collaboration with Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne Oy.

An alternative is now being prepared, in which there would be three superbus lines in the 2030s: the current bus lines 4 (Länsi-Hervanta - Hiedanranta), 7, and 8, which are the most popular. In the new plan, line 8 would be operated by Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne Oy and line 7 would be put out to tender. Service on these lines would start in the summer of 2028. The third super bus line, 4, would start later in the 2030s and would be operated by Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne Oy.

The plan was presented to the Tampere City Region Public Transport Committee on December 3, and the project schedule and arrangements will be submitted for decision in early 2026. If the committee approves the plan, competitive tendering for line 7 services could begin in spring 2026, with the operator selected in autumn 2026.

Competitive tendering for line 7 would affect next year's bus transport procurements, which are currently being prepared. A market dialogue will be organized for transport operators regarding the procurements.
