The City of Tampere is offering three sites owned by the City of Tampere, familiar from previous application rounds: a commercial space in the building of Pyynikki swimming hall, 3 working rooms from the Kaleva hall, and the Kaupin virkatalo, i.e. the former official residence of the municipal manager in the Kauppi hospital area. Artists and organizations are being sought for the city-owned premises for the period 1 February–31 August 2026.
“Meanwhile use spaces for culture and arts are once again available. The Kaleva Hall and Kaupin virkatalo are specifically looking for operators who are also interested in collaborating with other organizations or artists operating in the space. The period now open for applications covers spring and summer. There is a constant supply of temporarily vacant space in the city and the city is looking to harness these spaces for productive use. The Meanwhile Use Spaces application takes place about twice a year and looks for interesting cultural and artistic concepts for empty spaces. The spaces are made available to the operator on a temporary basis (2–9 months), allowing for pop-up and experimental activities.
Cultural and artistic operators in Tampere can apply a space for work, production and presentation of works, projects, open cultural space, exhibitions or other creative activities. The space or the result of its use must be used to organise cultural activities for citizens (e.g. workshops, exhibitions, events). The city of Nokia will also open its Meanwhile Use Spaces call in November-December 2025.
