Youth autumn holiday week kicks off with Safe Space event

The Safe Space event will take place at Ratina Shopping Center on Friday, 10 October 2025. All young people are welcome to this free event, which aims to raise awareness about safety skills and substance-free living as part of shared community safety.

The autumn holiday for schools in the Tampere region begins with the Safe Space event, open to all youth, held at the main square of Ratina Shopping Center on Friday, 10 October 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM.

The event features rising rap artist Senya and Tomas Jouhilampi, founder of the movement ”Sano stop väkivallalle” (”Say stop to violence”). Jouhilampi, familiar to many young people, has toured schools speaking about violence prevention.

Young attendees can participate in interactive stations where they can practice first aid skills, explore materials on safe relationships, and test their knowledge in a substance-related quiz. Those who complete the checkpoint trail will be entered into a prize draw at the end of the event.

Part of the Region’s preventive substance abuse work

The Safe Space event is organized in broad collaboration between the City of Tampere, the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, various organizations, and other local actors involved in preventive substance abuse work.

The event is part of the region-wide Pakka initiative in Pirkanmaa, which aims to reduce harm related to alcohol, tobacco, and gambling.
