Tampere Residents' Evenings attracted hundreds

This autumn, four regional Tampere Residents' Evenings were held across the city. Nearly 400 participants attended these open community events to learn about current city matters and enjoy live music. The next Residents' Evening will take place on 1 October 1 2025, as part of the Acts! Day event.

– Residents' Evenings offer locals the chance to meet city experts and hear about current developments. They can also influence ongoing plans by sharing their own views, says Jarno Koskinen, Regional Coordinator responsible for the Residents' Evenings at the City of Tampere.

Regional Residents' Evenings in autumn 2025 took place in Kaleva, Tesoma, Tullintori in the City Centre, and Hiedanranta.

Nearly 400 people attended the events. The highest turnout was in Tesoma, where around 170 residents explored information stands hosted by the city, local associations, and other organisations. In total, information was available on 35 different topics.

– One new feature this autumn was that each event included one or two Deputy Mayors sharing updates from the city and chatting with residents. This was something many had hoped for, says Jarno Koskinen.

In addition to the Deputy Mayors, the stage programme was a major attraction. Musicians Laura Moisio and Paul Elias, along with the children’s music group Orffit, drew their own enthusiastic audiences.

– We are constantly developing the Residents' Evenings. What worked well? How could they be even more engaging? Please share your feedback! Koskinen encourages.

Join us for Council Coffee

The next Tampere Residents' Evening will be held on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, which marks both the founding day of the City of Tampere and the Day of Civic Engagement, also known as Miina Sillanpää Day.

The event is part of the “Acts! 2: Echoes of history, glimpses of the future” programme organised by the City Library. It will take place at the Metso Main Library.

– Everyone is warmly welcome for Council Coffee in the main lobby of Metso from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. City councillors will be present to discuss what’s great about Tampere and what could still be improved, Koskinen says.
