Tampere's Walk of Fame Finland brightened up with new stars

Six years on, Tampere's Walk of Fame Finland has once again got new stars. Opened in the birthplace of Manserock, Tähtikatu celebrates key players in the Finnish and international music scene. This year's stars include Heikki Silvennoinen, Dallapé, Lea Laven and Dalia Stasevska.

Located on Åkerlundinkatu in the Tulli area of Tampere, Walk of Fame Finland honors influential contributors to both Finnish and international music. Each year, 3 to 8 new stars are added to the street based on public nominations, and dozens of prominent music professionals have already been immortalized there. This year, public interest was high, with a total of 1,634 nominations submitted. The selected stars represent a wide range of musical styles and roles within the music industry, with diversity, national reach, and equality emphasized in the selection process.

The public was invited to nominate individuals who have made an impact in the field, including artists, bands, songwriters, composers, music producers, and representatives of organizations and institutions. Based on these suggestions, the board of the Music x Media event proposed the new recipients, and the final decision was made by the City of Tampere’s Culture and Leisure Committee.

Last year, stars were awarded to Kaj Chydenius, Pave Maijanen, PMMP, Aino Ackté, Toivo Kärki, Jaakko Ryhänen, Juhani Merimaa, and Virve Rosti. In previous years, recipients have included Vesa-Matti “Vesku” Loiri, HIM, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Kikka, Antti Tuisku, Maija Vilkkumaa, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Jean Sibelius, Kaija Saariaho, Juice Leskinen, Popeda, Cheek, Katri Helena, Epe Helenius, Tapio Korjus, Eppu Normaali, Nightwish, Karita Mattila, Ismo Alanko, Paula Koivuniemi, Mikko Alatalo, Yö, Värttinä, Kaija Koo, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Jaakko Kuusisto, Hanoi Rocks, Erja Lyytinen, Heikki Salo, and Marion Rung.

Walk of Fame Finland is a collaboration between the City of Tampere, Tampere Hall, Bauer Media, and the Music x Media event for creative industry professionals.
