The Tampere City Board appointed the new Disability Council for the 2025–2027 term on 16 June 2025.
The Disability Council consists of a chairperson and ten members, each of whom has a personal deputy. The members of the Disability Council and their personal deputies are:

All members of Tampere’s Disability Council have personal experience of disability and everyday life with disabilities.
– We are experts by experience who monitor the development of the City of Tampere and its services. We influence city planning and decision-making by bringing forward the perspectives of Tampere residents with disabilities, says Katja Metsävainio, Chairperson of the Disability Council.
Council appointed the Working Group of Accessibility
The new Disability Council of the City of Tampere has commenced its term. In the September meeting, the council elected Milla Ilonen as Vice Chair from among its members.
In the same meeting, the council voted to appoint members to the Working Group of Accessibility, which operates under the Disability Council.
– We conducted an open call for candidates for the Working Group of Accessibility. The selection was challenging, as we received 24 excellent applications, Chairperson Metsävainio explains.
The Working Group of Accessibility consists of eight members. Seven of them were appointed by the Disability Council, and one representative was nominated by the Tampere Older People’s Council.
The following individuals were appointed to the Working Group of Accessibility for the 2025–2027 term:

The task of the Working Group of Accessibility is to assess and promote the accessibility of the built urban environment. The group also works to advance social accessibility, taking into account the multiculturalism and diversity of Tampere residents.
