The first call for artists for the Pirkkala-Linnainmaa tramway starts on 19 August.

The Tampere Ratikka Art programme continues. The first call for artists for the Pirkkala-Linnainmaa tramway will open on 19 August and close on 15 September 2025.

The Tampere Ratikka route is currently being extended towards Pirkkala and Tampere Linnainmaa. The tramway will be built in phases, and as the route expands, the Ratikka Art programme will also be extended to new areas. In the first phase, art is planned for six stations.

The first call for artists is a portfolio search for an artist or group of artists to design a work for the Ruotula Tram stop that will reinforce the image of the future Kaupinlaakso area as a vibrant and green neighbourhood. It is hoped that the work will add value to the daily lives of passengers and all those living in the area affected by the tram.

Around the stop, green nature will be combined with the new urban fabric and sporting and leisure facilities. It will be a crossroads for light transport routes, public transport, private cars and recreational routes. The bus stop will be located on the street between the car lanes in a spacious open space. The north side of the stop has a wide platform with a space for art and planting at the back. The space delimits the stop area and, as an elongated space, creates the opportunity for a series of works, for example.

Currently, 90 artists have participated in the Ratikka Art programme and 70 art projects have been completed. Tampereen Raitiotie Oy is responsible for the overall management and portfolio management of Ratikka Art. The implementation is coordinated by Frei Zimmer Oy.
