The lift in the Santalahti tower will be out of service 29.–31.7.2025

The lift of the Santalahti pedestrian bridge stair tower will be out of public use from Tuesday to Thursday 29.–31.7.2025.

The outage will start on Tuesday morning at 8am and end on Thursday at around 4pm. There is a challenge to continuously clean the surfaces without damaging the surface materials. The maintenance treatment will not bring surfaces back to like-new condition, but it will reduce wear and tear and facilitate ongoing cleaning.

– The loss of use due to maintenance work is a consequence of the constant vandalism experienced by the stairlift in the stair tower. The price tag for this maintenance treatment is around 2 000 euros, says Lassi Jokinen, maintenance engineer at the City of Tampere.

During the outage, the stairs of the stair tower will be available, but accessibility to the lift will be blocked.

– Under normal circumstances, the Santalahti lift is part of an accessible pedestrian route between Pispala highway and Santalahti. We regret the inconvenience caused by the disruption, especially for those who need the accessible route, says Jokinen.

The maintenance treatment will be carried out by Pirkanmaan Pesupalvelut Oy, which is responsible for the cleaning of the lift.
