Events in Ratina shocked many, help is available

An act of violence near the Ratina shopping centre in Tampere on Thursday evening 3 July has shocked many. Mayor Ilmari Nurminen shares the feelings of the city's residents, the incident is sad and shocking, Tampere must be safe for everyone.

If the act have left troubling feelings and emotions, it is important that no one is left alone to worry about it. It is especially important for children and young people to have the opportunity to talk to a safe adult.

The Pirkanmaa Welfare Region therefore urges those who were present at the scene and those who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Social Welfare and Crisis Helpline on 0500 625990 24 hours a day.

– Such an incident is extremely sad and unfortunate. I hope that those injured in the incident recover well, my thoughts are with them. I expect that those who have been shaken by the events will receive support and help, says Mayor Ilmari Nurminen.

– Violence always shocks and is never acceptable. Let's look after each other, Tampere must be a safe place for everyone, continues Mayor Nurminen.

The police will organize a media briefing on the event on 4 July at 11 am and the Pirkanmaa Welfare Region will provide social and crisis emergency services.
