Mansen Massit Community Grant supports sustainable everyday life in Tampere – applications open in September

Mansen Massit Community Grant will open for applications again in autumn 2025. This year, the theme is sustainable everyday life in Tampere. The City invites residents and communities to carry out communal actions that also support climate and nature goals.

The purpose of the grant is to support events and activities organised by residents, associations and communities, that are open to everyone and free of charge. Tampere residents will vote to decide which applications receive funding.

The Mansen Massit Community Grant was piloted for the first time in 2024. The reception was enthusiastic, with a high number of applications. More than 5,000 residents participated in the vote – the highest number in Tampere’s participatory budgeting processes to date.

– Mansen Massit showed that residents and communities have a great deal of enthusiasm for organising inspiring events and activities. Based on the pilot, we also launched a new grant in early 2025 – the One-Time Grant for Community Activities, which is open for applications on a rolling basis. It is especially intended to support small-scale resident-led activities across the city, says Regional coordinator Jarno Koskinen from the City of Tampere.

Community-based activities for sustainability

This year, the theme of Mansen Massit is sustainable everyday life in Tampere. Funding may be granted to activities that promote community spirit and one or more of the following: biodiversity, eco-friendly food and urban farming, sustainable mobility, or the circular and sharing economy.

The Community grant application will be open throughout September, and Tampere residents will vote for their favourite proposals in late October to early November.

– We encourage all local communities in Tampere to consider what kind of activities they could organise. We hope to see a wide range of communities from across the city, says Planning officer Lotta Harsunen
