Dreams of Culture Hervanta event brings a varied cultural programme to Midsummer Week

Dreams of Culture Hervanta event brings a diverse cultural programme to different parts of Hervanta during the Midsummer week of 16-19 June 2025. The event invites residents to participate, share their ideas and influence the future of cultural activities in the area. The week will culminate in a joint Midsummer celebration on Thursday 19 June.

- We want to hear the cultural aspirations of the people of the region and their thoughts on what kind of activities are needed in the area," says Mari Jalkanen, Project Manager. - Some of the ideas generated during the event week can already be implemented during this coming autumn.

The programme includes, for example, a visit by Peräkonttimuseo (a car boot museum) and guided tours of the Police Museum for both children and adults. The Ahvenisjärvi pier will become an Open Stage for performers, hosted by Tampere Welcoming City, and art workshops will invite people of all ages to get creative.

In the media arts workshop you can send a letter to a neighbour, Youth Centre Kupoli will be decorated with summer dreams and the in the Dream Workshop of the Hervanta Library you can make wishes visible by drawing. On the shores of Lake Suolijärvi, you are welcome to create clay art and build musical instruments. The City of Tampere's Park Meals will be accompanied by a wide range of activities during Midsummer Week, including a book exchange and a reading corner organised by the Tampere Intercultural Art cooperative.

- I particularly hope that the programme will appeal to as many Hervanta people as possible - both new and long-time residents," says Emma Peura, Cultural Coordinator.

The theme week will culminate in a joint Midsummer celebration on Thursday 19 June at Lake Suolijärvi, with a community picnic, live music and other activities. Everyone is warmly welcome to join in the festive spirit!

The event is organised by the City of Tampere Public Cultural Services in cooperation with local actors.
