Selected groups of Tampere residents will be able to enjoy EuroBasket games for free
The City of Tampere will distribute tickets for the European Basketball Championship games to defined target groups during this summer. In cooperation with the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, tickets will be distributed through local welfare and health services, family support centres, youth centres, schools, food distribution services, and also to immigrants, students and schoolchildren.
- It is a super summer of sport, and the major international events are a common joy to the entire city of Tampere. The EuroBasket, the culminating event of the summer season, spreads a unique basketball atmosphere throughout the city. We want to promote a sense of community and offer as many people as possible the opportunity to participate in this great event and its vibrant atmosphere," says Jaakko Mustakallio, Deputy Mayor of Economic Development, Competence and Real Estate Services.
To enhance accessibility to the European Basketball Championships, free public transport is included in the game ticket. All tickets for the event include travel on Nysse buses, trams and trains within the Nysse region.
The admission ticket automatically includes the local Nysse transportation ticket, valid from 6 am on the day of the game until 4 am the following day. Passengers must confirm their ticket's validity by showing the barcode or QR code in their admission ticket to the ticket device during each journey.
Tampere will also host several other major sporting events in the summer of 2025. The city will host the PDGA Professional World Championships (30 July – 3 August), the European Athletics U20 Championships (7–10 August) and the IVV Olympics (14–17 August).
