Laikku and the Whole World is Tampere's most colourful festival

Laikku and the Whole World cultural festival will be celebrated for the third time on Saturday, June 7th. The event, which celebrates the diverse culture of Tampere, will fill Laikunlava and Kirjastonpuisto with music, dance, and art. You can also get to know different associations and take part in workshops yourself.

For the third time, Laikku and the Whole World cultural festival brings international performers and a wide variety of events to Laikkunlava outdoor stage. Uniâo da Roseira, for example, will perform a rhythmic and colourful samba show that will take you on a journey to hot Brazil and bring with it an energetic carnival atmosphere. The Saïsba Intercontinental septet is an afro-fusion group that blends West African traditions with Afrobeat, rock, funk, jazz and Latin rhythms.

– Tampere is a city for all of us. The City of Tampere wants mutual respect and equality to be part of the Tampere attitude. The event “Laikku and the Whole World” highlights the diversity and richness of Tampere's cultural offer, something we can be really proud of, says Mikko Ala-Kapee, Equality Coordinator.

The event will also include a market area where various associations and other actors will present their activities. There will be various workshops and handicrafts for sale. The event will also feature KorentoArt's roving characters, children's art workshops and Somana ry's Art Live programme. The food market will offer Arabic cuisine and Bangladeshi street food, among other things. The event will be hosted by journalist, DJ and activist Renaz Ebrahimi, who will also play music between the performances.

Culture House Laikku and Children's Cultural Centre Rulla will also be open throughout the event.
