This year in particular, residents of the Korkinmäki area have been increasingly concerned about the spread of Spanish slugs to wider areas. With community grant we would organize snail removal and control efforts in the spring and summer of 2026. Participating in these efforts is an easy and community-oriented way to tackle the snail problem. At the same time, you will get to know other residents in the area better. The necessary equipment and refreshments will be provided.

HärStock, the sunniest neighbourhood festival of the summer, is a free park festival with no age restrictions held on the beachfront of Härmälä/Rantaperkiö. This year, HärStock is committed to promoting the themes of the circular and sharing economy and sustainable mobility through an information point, a book and clothing exchange, a bicycle repair service, and social media communications during the festival. We want to do our part to promote a sustainable future and lifestyle – together and as a community <3.

Hirvitalo (Pispala Contemporary Art Center) is located near the Pispala ridge in the Tahmela district. It hosts cultural activities open to everyone. In the 2026 growing season, we aim to beautify the Hirvitalo garden and make it a pleasant and inviting space for visitors and neighbors. We will also organize art workshops for all ages. These workshops will focus on ecological environmental art and sculptures made from scrap materials. Additionally, food will be grown in the permaculture garden at the back of the yard to support a community kitchen.

The schoolyard of Saukonpuisto School will be transformed into an urban summer garden open to everyone. The yard will feature planting boxes, seating areas, and a community painting wall, inviting people to garden, paint, and spend time together. The yard will be kept pleasant and lively by volunteers. The grant will be used to build the framework and organise free art workshops so that the yard can serve as an open meeting place for urban culture throughout the summer.

The Muovitehdas skate park serves as a meeting place and learning environment. In the summer, we will recycle skateboarding equipment together through an exchange market and start producing food through urban farming together with Satohuone. Rollerblading is part of daily emission-free urban transport. The activity is open to everyone, equal and communal!

Together we will build homes for birds and bats, learn about the right kind of birdhouses, and share our experiences of nature. During the early spring, we will ensure that the nesting boxes are in place before the nesting season. Working together brings joy, knowledge, and a good feeling – come and give nature an important gift!

Come and join in building safe winter homes for hedgehogs! PESU ry is organising cottage building workshops in early autumn – we will guide you in building and setting up your cottage, and you can take the finished cottages to your own yard or place them in the association's hedgehog areas. Materials and tools are available on site, and there is room for about 10 participants at a time. Building together brings joy, learning, and helps hedgehogs survive the winter safely.

Tesoma together – all year round! In spring, we decorate Easter egg trees and tune up our bikes. In autumn, the whole area comes together for Tesoma Day with a harvest picnic, and in winter we meet at the recycling festival. The programme includes trash art, music, and open mic opportunities. Pirkanmaan musiikkiopisto is organizing ten outdoor concerts in different parts of Tampere. The Nature harmony concert series will be held in parks, on lake shores, and along nature trails. The performers are students at the music institute, and the ensembles range from duos to orchestras. In addition to the performances, the performers will talk about what nature means to them. Music and nature offer a shared, unique experience that brings different people together. Stop and listen to the sounds of nature!

The Green Food Workshop in Hervanta invites everyone to come and cook and learn about sustainable food choices! The workshops use local food and seasonal vegetables, which are primarily sourced from shops and producers in the Hervanta area. Together, we learn how to prepare easy and affordable meals. We will also discuss reducing food waste and the principles of the circular economy: we will learn how to use leftovers in new meals and make environmentally friendly choices in our everyday lives. The events are free and open to everyone – children, young people, adults, and families. Come along to cook, eat well, and get to know your neighbors. Food brings people together, and small choices make a big difference!

Let’s grow harvest and community together! The Vehmainen Garden Party brings together residents of all ages. We’ll plant a new kitchen garden on the grounds of Vehmainen School, enjoy music and shared activities, and celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vehmainen Association. As part of the celebration, we’ll establish a public fruit and berry garden, which will be cared for jointly by pupils and local residents. The garden will offer joy, produce, and meaningful encounters for the community for years to come.

Open stage and writing workshops provide an opportunity to explore questions such as: How am I connected to my environment and nature? What kind of memories does the forest hold? Is there something similar between me and moss?

And of course, we will bake pancakes, which will be served with strawberry jam and whipped cream.
