Tampere Festival of Light

The Festival of Light takes over Tampere's streets from October 23rd 2020 until March 14th 2021!

Celebrating the darkest season of the year, the 55th Tampere Festival of Light illuminates the streets of Tampere city centre with hundreds of magical light spheres, street projections and exciting light art.

Step into the light!

The lights will be turned on at dusk, and turned off on weekdays at 11 pm and on weekends at 5 am.

  • Hämeenkatu main street is illuminated with string lights. You might also spot a few curious Passengers waiting for the tram to arrive.
  • Lamp-post illuminations along Aleksis Kiven katu street and the light curtains in front of Tampere City Central Office Building brighten up the humdrum of everyday life.
  • Kuninkaankatu street's veils of fairy lights and light spheres lead the way to the Stable Yards and Museum Milavida in Näsinpuisto Park.
  • The gorgeous chandeliers over Kauppakatu street are a must-see.
  • Tuomiokirkonkatu street's interactive Ice Lantern can forecast the weather.
  • Tammelantori market place is illuminated with light figures in the shape of hedgehogs and oak leaves.
  • Yliopistonkatu street has been illuminated with light spheres and Tullikamari square with light trees.
  • Konsulinsaari island by Satakunnankatu bridge houses a herd of magical horses.
  • The surroundings of Culture House Laikku near the Central Square have been illuminated with light spheres and more.
  • Hämeenpuisto boulevard has been festooned with a canopy of string lights in co-operation with local entrepreneurs.

The Light Gallery exhibition

The Light Gallery exhibition, stretching across the city's western quarters, consists of pieces of art projected onto empty walls. Can you find them all?
