Sports Parliament
The Tampere Sports Parliament (Seuraparlamentti) acts as an expert body between the city and sports associations. Through the Parliament, decision-makers and planners are informed of the views of the sports scene on issues such as support for sports club activities, the need to improve sports facilities, the promotion of sport and sports events.
The Sports Parliament meets 3-4 times a year. Anyone can propose issues for discussion at the meetings. Items are submitted directly to the chairperson or via the members.
The Parliament started its work in October 2014. Nominations are open to the various clubs and members are elected at an election meeting.
There are ten sports association representatives in the Parliament. A quota has been set for clubs of different sizes to ensure that they are representative of the sporting scene in Tampere. The Sports Parliament elects a chairperson from among its members.
