Social welfare services for refugees are primarily intended for the refugees moved to Tampere or for other immigrants requiring specific support.

Handling of issues mainly takes place by appointment and with the assistance of an interpreter.

You get support to become integrated in Tampere and the Finnish society and to get along independently in daily issues. We provide information on the services provided by the city and we guide you in the application for them. We carry out multi-professional cooperation with the clients, various authorities and organizations.

The services of the beginning stage include:

  • General guiding and advising of the clients
  • Assessment of the need for services and social work
  • Financial advising and living allowance
  • Group information sessions
  • Advising in housing issues

Social welfare services for refugees are a part of the unit of assessment of the need for services and client advising point of the Adult Social Work Services.

First-phase medical consultation by a nurse

The first-phase medical consultation of the nurse for refugees is located in Hatanpää. Newcomers undergo a medical examination and in urgent cases treatment is provided.

The morning reception of the nurse without appointment: Monday - Friday 8 - 9. In other times, the nurse is available only by appointment: Monday to Thursday 8 - 15, Friday and holiday eves 8 - 13.30.

The necessity to consult a doctor will be clarified during the consultation with the nurse. To consult a doctor, an appointment is always required.
