Fees for dental treatment

Municipal dental treatment is chargeable for all residents except for those under 18 years of age.

You receive the exact prices at dental clinics. Before starting dental treatment, you may ask for a cost estimate.

A visit to a oral hygienist costs 10,20 euros
- charged for each visit

A visit to a dentist costs 13,10 euros
- charged for each visit

A visit to a dental specialist costs 19,20 euros

Check-up 8,40 - 37,50 euros

X-ray examination 8,40 - 54,90 euros

Regional anaesthesia 8,40 euros

Preventive care 7,30 euros
- preventive care is available also, including health counselling, teaching of home dental care, any necessary fluoride treatment or similar treatments, and removal of plaque or plaque build-up

A certificate given by a dentist at most 47,50 euros

A missed appointment that has not been cancelled 50,80 euros, can be charged from those who are 18 years of age or older. The fee can be charged for appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. The fee is not charged if the patient had an acceptable reason for not cancelling the appointment.


After the treatment, an invoice is posted to the client’s home. Municipal dental treatment does not entitle the patient to reimbursement from the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela).
