Cultural wellbeing

Culture enhances wellbeing in many ways. You can enjoy it both as an audience member and as a creator.

Engaging in cultural activities offers new perspectives, fresh ideas, meaningful experiences, and opportunities to meet new people. Visual arts and music, for example, help express emotions and connect with your subconscious. You can enrich your life by attending dance performances, theatre plays, or concerts – or by creating something yourself, such as crafts or art.

Culture in many forms

Tampere offers a wide range of opportunities to engage with culture both in person and online. Activities are also tailored for different age groups. In addition to the city, events and programs are organized by associations, companies, and other organizations.

Support and information for engaging in cultural activities

  • Would you like to learn more about cultural hobby opportunities for children, youth, and families? Ask the hobby advisory service!
  • Cultural Companions are volunteers from the City of Tampere who can accompany you to cultural venues. In some cases, you can enter for free when visiting with a companion.
  • The Kaikukortti Card provides free access to cultural venues and events for individuals and families in financially challenging situations.
  • The Adult Education Centre of Tampere Region offers benefits and discounts for people over 67 and for those who are unemployed.
