Digitalisation in culture, sports and leisure

The aim is to streamline customer service and provide information about services in a smooth and consistent format.  

Ongoing digital projects

•  E-service for grant management. The City of Tampere awards around €26 million in grants annually. The grant process has been cumbersome and slow for both applicants and processors. The city is implementing a grant management system that will make applying for grants clear and easy in the future. The processing of applications will also be streamlined.
• Expansion of digital ticketing for museums. The museums in Tampere will have a common online shop, which will be expanded.
• Reforming the group booking system to make it more convenient to book group visits to museums, for example.
   

Tampere is leading an EU project that seeks virtual solutions for engaging people, urban development, and offering new kinds of cultural experiences. Tampere is testing how augmented reality could bring the city's rich history to life, for example, in the Tampere Cathedral. In addition, the pilot is experimenting with combining XR technologies with physical art and event experiences in public spaces such as the Nokia Arena.

• The sports counsellors of the City of Tampere provide free assistance in finding ways to start exercising. Currently, sports counselling is offered by phone, email, or in-person meetings. The City is exploring the possibility of increasing remote sports counselling, for example, through traditional or AI-assisted chat.

• Tampere plans to develop the registration system for exercise groups to be more user-friendly. The goal is to make both registration and possible cancellations as easy as possible for the user. At the same time, the processes of sports services will be automated so that cancellations do not cause manual work, for example, in billing.
