Tampere Cultural Network safer space principles

Two people are sitting on the pier under a rainbow-coloured umbrella on a beautiful summer's day.

We welcome all network members and visitors just as they are.

Each of us is unique

Our characteristics include age, ethnic origin, nationality, language and culture, religion, beliefs, opinions, political views, family structure, gender identity, sexual orientation, health status, disability, social status, economic status, and other individual factors such as body size or neurotypicality.

In this network, everyone can be themselves safely and feel welcome

  • We are polite and considerate towards everyone.
  • We respect each other's self-definition. We respect what a person says about themselves.
  • We give each other space. We do not disturb others by, for example, being loud, touching them, or getting too close.
  • We pay attention to our choice of words. We do not use offensive language.
  • We can make mistakes and ask questions, because we do not assume that everyone knows the same things.
  • We listen and encourage. We can also disagree constructively.
  • We protect each other from disrespectful behavior.

Tampere Cultural Network is committed to equality and accessibility and strives to make its premises barrier-free. We intervene in cases of discrimination and racism. Please feel free to contact us if you wish.
