Guidance counselling

Guidance and counselling is provided for every basic education pupil. In grades 1 through 6, the class teacher is responsible for the guidance. In lower secondary school, a dedicated guidance counsellor is provided. One of the subjects of such guidance and counselling is planning out the pupil’s future and further studies.

For more information about guidance and counselling, refer to the Finnish National Agency for Education website.

Intensified guidance and counselling

Pupils who need additional support in applying for postgraduate studies are entitled to receive intensified pupil guidance and counselling in 8th and 9th grade. A personal postgraduate study plan will be prepared for those who receive intensified guidance and counselling.

For more information about intensified guidance and counselling, refer to the Finnish National Agency for Education website.

Compulsory Education

Compulsory education continues until the age of 18 or until the young person has completed upper secondary education. Every young person moves on to further studies after basic education. You can find more information about compulsory education from the attached link (available soon).
