Independence Day celebrations at the Central Square and children's event at the Tampere Hall
Finland turns 107 years old. In Tampere, Independence Day will be celebrated as usual with a public event in Keskustori Central Square on Friday 6 December from 5 pm to 5.30 pm.
The event will feature singers Anneli Saaristo, Mikko Harju and Marjukka Tepponen. Tampere Workers' Association band, the male choir Tampereen Laulajat and the boys' choir Pirkanpojat will also perform at the event. The event will be hosted by Saimi Hoyer. The Deputy Mayor of Tampere, Matti Helimo, will give a speech at the event.
The event will affect traffic arrangements in the Keskustori Central Square area. On the day of the event, parking will be prohibited in the parking areas of Keskustori, and the eastern part of Puutarhakatu and the taxi rank in the area will be closed. Pedestrian and cycle traffic from the Frenckell tunnel will be directed towards Frenckell Square.
At the end of the event, the buildings in the Keskustori Central Square area will be illuminated in the traditional way with winter light installations, which will be on display until 6 January 2025. The illuminations will be on daily from 4 pm to 10 pm.
Children's Independence day ball at the Tampere Hall
The Children's Independence day ball will once again take over the Sorsapuistosali at Tampere Hall. Finland's independence will be celebrated with a theme chosen by the children - Be Yourself. This year's celebrations will take place in two parts: from 1 pm to 3 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm. The program content will be the same for both parts.
The party will be hosted by the children of Tampere Children's Parliament and Veera Degerholm from Pikku Kakkonen. The event will include a speech by Deputy Mayor of Tampere Matti Helimo and a greeting from the Children's Parliament.
DJ Sara-Maaria will be playing best music mix for the dance floor. The music ensemble Naattiorkesteri will be performing with music full of great vocal harmonies, different instruments and skillful arrangements for the whole family to enjoy. There will also be dance performances by the children of Dance School Tanssittava and dance lessons for the guests.
The event is suitable for the whole family, especially 4-12 year olds. You can dress up for the occasion, but each guest is free to come as they please.
