The new Messukylä day-care centre opened its doors

The new day-care centre in Messukylä is bright, and the large windows of the building provide a good view of the landscape. Member of the nursery staff, Karoliina Viitaniemi is preparing to open the premises.

The new two-storey day-care centre is located at the junction between Messukylänkatu and Kyläojankatu. The day-care centre and its yard area border the Messukylä schoolyard to the east.

The courtyard area is designed to be accessible and fenced. The local detailed plan specifies the trees to be protected, which has been taken into account in the planning of the yard. The facilities of the new building can be adapted to different needs.

- We at the Messukylä day-care centre want to emphasise the many forms of expression. These can be implemented through culture, art education, music and physical activity, for example, and so we can offer children opportunities for creativity and self-expression, says Minna Hietala, director of the early childhood education unit.

With the introduction of the new day-care centre, the operation of the old day-care centre in Messukylä will end. Turtola day-care centre will continue its operations in the area as usual.

The new day-care centre in Messukylä will serve not only the north-eastern area but also other families. The day-care centre is well served by public transport and light traffic.
