Traffic arrangement control relating to the National Parade on the Finnish Independence Day in Tampere
The National Parade on the Finnish Independence Day will contribute to changes affecting traffic control, parking and public transportation in Tampere from 5 to 6 December 2019. The majority of the equipment will arrive in Tampere on 5 December, whereas on 6 December the return transfers back to home garrisons may cause traffic congestion in Tampere and its vicinity.
Parking restrictions in Tampere 5. - 6.12.2019
Preparations for the parade arrangements will affect both traffic control and parking in Tampere from 5 to 6 December 2019. The restrictions issued will be effective from 5 December.
Parking restrictions will apply in the following areas:
- In the area of Tampere Trade Fairs and Sports Centre
- On Ratinan Rantatie and Suvantokatu
- On Voimakatu, incl. the parking area of YIT
- On Jokikatu
- On Hatanpäänkatu in the parking areas of Tampereen vesi and Kantasarvis
- At Laukontori square and in the parking areas of Laukontori
- On the street running south from the Hämeenpuisto park starting by Hallituskatu
- On Nalkalankatu and in the Eteläpuisto park
Any vehicles parked in zones with parking restrictions will be towed to the nearest parking area available unless the vehicle driver is present in the vehicle’s immediate vicinity.
On Thursday 5 December, preparations for parade arrangements may cause temporary traffic congestion in the area of Tampere Trade Fairs and Sports Centre, Ratina Stadium / Tampere Valtatie and Ratinanniemi.
Between 08:00-11:00 and 15:30-17:30, the parade troops will arrive in the area of Tampere Trade Fairs and Sports Centre, which may slow down traffic on VT3. The traffic flow will be controlled by lowering speed limits as applicable.
Between 13:00-15:00, the parade training of the motorised detachment will take place on Ilmailunkatu - Sarankulmankatu that will be closed from traffic for training purposes.
From 17:30 onwards, traffic in the direction of Ratinanniemi will be on the increase as display equipment will be transferred from the area of Tampere Trade Fairs and Sports Centre to the equipment display area in Ratinanniemi. Starting at 20:00, heavy equipment will be on the move heading for Ratinanniemi resulting in temporary discomfort affecting the overall traffic situation on Ilmailunkatu - Sarankulmankatu - Hatanpään valtatie - Suvantokatu - Ratinanniemi.
On Friday 6 December, traffic and security arrangements relating to the parade will bring about changes affecting Tampere city public transportation routes in the downtown area. Overall traffic will be controlled by the police and the military police.
Between 09:50-10:30, the motorised marching detachment partaking in the pass-in-review will convene in the Hämeenpuisto park advancing sequenced as two detachments on Ilmailunkatu - Sarankulmankatu - Hatanpään valtatie - Tampereen valtatie - the north part of the Hämeenpuisto park - the south part of the Hämeenpuisto park to wait then in formation for the start of the pass-in-review in the south part of the Hämeenpuisto park.
Between 10:40-11:10, troop transfers will be organised by bus to the parking area on Voimakatu (YIT) via Ilmailunkatu - Sarankulmankatu - Hatanpään valtatie - Tampereen valtatie - Voimakatu.
Between 12:00-15:00, the lanes of Tampereen valtatie will be closed in both directions from vehicular traffic from the Eteläpuisto park to Hatanpään valtatie. Between 08:00 to 15:00, access to the Ratina shopping mall will be available from Suvantokatu.
Between 12:50-14:00, the lanes on Hatanpään valtatie in the direction of the south will be closed between Tampereen valtatie and Hatanpäänkatu as well as the lanes running towards the north between Tampereen valtatien and Jokikatu.
Between 14:00-18:00, the parade troops will leave Tampere via Tampere Trade Fairs and Sports Centre. From 16:00 onwards, the equipment will be transferred from Ratinanniemi to Tampere Trade Fair and Sports Centre via Ratinaniemi - Suvantokatu - Hatanpään valtatie - Sarankulmankatu - Ilmailunkatu.
