Wilma – communication between the preschool, the school and the home

Guardian, here is how to create your Wilma account for the Tampere early childhood education and basic education Wilma system:

When you have a placement for your child, you can create your Wilma account yourself. To log in, you need a mobile certificate, online banking identifiers, or an e-certificate card. For strong authentication of your identity, the Suomi.fi service is used. Only through using a strong authentication can a child’s data be linked with your account.      

1. Open the website opetustampere.inschool.fi/connect. 

2. Enter your e-mail address and press “Send verification”.   

• Open the e-mail you received. Using the link in the message, you may proceed with your account creation. 
• If no message arrives in your inbox, please check your spam folder.   

3. Some notes on account creation:

• Choose the relevant school = the school the pupil is to enrol in, for pre-primary education pupils, select "Esiopetukseen ilmoittautuminen”.   
• Strong authentication = using the Suomi.fi service, e.g. using your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. 
• Linking the children you are the guardian of to your account:

Select guardian data available through Digital and Population Data Services Agency in the Wilma window. Do not choose any of the other options!

Click on “Retrieve person”. The system will redirect you to the Suomi.fi service. Select a child to attend the Tampere basic or pre-primary education. Click on “Select and go to the e-service”. You will return to the Wilma website with your child’s name displayed at the top.    

You may add additional children to your Wilma account by re-selecting “guardian data available through Digital and Population Data Services Agency” and “Retrieve person”.   

• Verifying your data and creating a password.

Proceed as instructed by Wilma. Your password must be at least 8 characters long, and should incorporate at least three of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.     

The e-mail address you provided is your Wilma username. 

Linking a new pupil to my existing account:

1. Log in to Wilma at  opetustampere.inschool.fi 

2. Click on the person and cog wheel icon in the upper corner and choose User rights. 

3. Add a role.   

4. Follow the Wilma instructions. 

I have a guardian account in another municipality or an upper secondary or vocational school:

Create a new account for the early childhood education or basic education Wilma. Even though the system is the same, each municipal basic education and independent upper secondary education provider has their own database which necessitates separate accounts.

I have a Wilma account through my job:

If you work as a teacher or staff member for Tampere pre-primary or basic education and you are also a guardian of pre-primary or basic education pupils, you should create a separate guardian account in Wilma using an e-mail address other than your work address. 

If you work for an upper secondary school or in another municipality, create a new account at the Tampere pre-primary and basic education Wilma.  Even though the system is the same, each municipal basic education and independent upper secondary education provider has their own database which necessitates separate accounts.   

When will I be provided with a key code?

If the pupil or the guardian is under a non-disclosure for personal safety reasons, or if you cannot provide a strong authentication for some other reason, you will need a key code to create your Wilma account. To receive a key code, contact as the guardian of a school pupil, the school secretary for the pupil’s respective school.

An example of an error encountered during identification: When you have selected your child and return to Wilma with the message: “Retrieval of guardianships from the e-Authorizations service was successful”, but the name of the pupil is not displayed in the Role field, there has been an error with the identification. 

Creating a Wilma account using a key code

If you cannot use strong authentication to create a Wilma account, contact the school secretary for the pupil’s respective school to receive a key code. 

1. Open the website  opetustampere.inschool.fi/connect. 

2. Enter your e-mail address and press “Send verification”.   

• Open the e-mail you received. Using the link in the message, you may proceed with your account creation. If no message arrives in your inbox, please check your spam folder. 

3. Select the school for the pupil.

4. You may click on “Skip” to bypass strong authentication. 

5. Select “I have... a key code” and enter your key code. Press “Add key code” followed with “Next”

6. Proceed as instructed by the software.

Downloading the mobile app and logging in to the app

1. Look up the Wilma mobile app at the Google Play Store or the App Store.   

2. Download the app to your device.   

3. Log in to the app using your Wilma account and password.  

4. Select the correct Wilma service: Tampereen kaupunki, perusopetus.

Instructions for linking multiple accounts in the Wilma mobile app

You may link any Wilma account irrespective of municipality or educational institution to one mobile app.   

When a guardian has a Wilma account with another Wilma service (a neighbouring municipality, an upper secondary or vocational school or the Näpsä craft school), proceed as follows:   

1. Open the existing Wilma mobile app. 

2. Go to your menu and choose User accounts (Android) / Click on the person icon in the left upper corner (iPhone).   

3. Use the + button to add a new Wilma address (choose the correct Wilma).   

4. Look up Tampereen kaupunki, perusopetus.   

5. Log in with your new Wilma account created for the Tampere basic education and pre-primary education services.  

6. This allows you to link a variety of Wilma accounts irrespective of municipality or educational institution. 

7. The User account page always allows you to choose whose account to use.   

In the mobile app, all accounts are logged in at the same time, so the user may choose between accounts and roles using the User account page.   

Pupils will log in to Wilma using the same account they use to log into school computers or the Microsoft 365 service. When logging in to Wilma using a web browser, pupils should use the “Oppilas ja henkilökunta kirjautuminen” button.
