Open digital support from libraries from January 8

The main library Metso and the libraries of Hervanta, Sampola, Koilliskeskus and Lielahti will start offering open digital support for everyday digital problems without an appointment.

The digital support offered by Tampere City Library is renewed. In the future, libraries will no longer have separate Tietotori IT Centres, but from Monday 8 January, main library Metso and the libraries in Hervanta, Sampola, Koilliskeskus and Lielahti will offer open digital support, for example for the questions of basic use of services, computers, or smart devices. You can come to the open digital support points at the times indicated without an appointment. Digital support is free of charge.

- For example, we can help you adjust the settings of your smart device or install or remove applications. Open digital support does not provide ready-made answers, but we support customers in their everyday digital challenges from the role of an active IT user. However, customers are always responsible for the use of their devices and use of services, says Terhi Turkia, coordinator at Tampere City Library.

The digital support points are marked in the library premises with green Digituki signs. One person works at the point at a time, and in a queue situation, the guidance time is about 15 minutes per customer. Digital Support follows the national ethical guidelines for digital support and the limits of Tampere City Library's digital support.

Timetables for open digital support

Hervanta Library Mon, Tue, Thu 12-15
Main Library Metso Mon, Tue, Fri 12-15
Sampola Library Mon, Thu, Fri 12-15
Koilliskeskus Library Tue, Wed 13-15
Lielahti Library Tue, Wed 13-15

Guidance by appointment if needed

If an open digital support session cannot cover the customer's digital support needs, a one-to-one tutoring session of about an hour can be reserved. The digital support staff will assess the need for guidance at an open digital support point or at the digital support service number and, if necessary, book an appointment.

Customer service to support the use of library services

All libraries' customer services offer support for using the library's own services, printing, storing files on library computers and logging in to services. However, the level of skill and time available to a customer service agent will always affect the digital support they provide.
