The application for the City of Tampere’s summer jobs is open 23 January–19 February 2023

The application period for the City of Tampere’s summer jobs is now open. The city is hiring summer employees for diverse tasks in the various services and functions of the city. You can apply for the positions through Kuntarekry until 19 February.
The lifeguard is sitting in a red cap at the Pyynikki beach.
Last summer, Henriikka Heiskanen worked as a lifeguard at two city beaches.

The city is offering a total of about 250 summer jobs and traineeships for the coming summer. Early childhood education and care has the largest number of open positions, in addition to sports, culture and youth services. Other interesting jobs are offered by urban environment services, real estate and housing services as well as Tampere Water.

The City of Tampere is offering fewer summer jobs compared to previous years, as most of them were transferred over to the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county with the social welfare and health care services.

The city is hiring students and professionals in the field as annual holiday substitutes and offering internships for students. There are also positions that do not require prior experience or education.

The aim is to make the selections by the end of March, and those selected for the jobs will be personally notified. Emails will be sent to all applicants at the end of the application period and when the position has been filled.

You can find the job descriptions and application forms for the summer jobs in Kuntarekry. You can search for positions with the search terms “kesätyö” and “Tampereen kaupunki”.

The City of Tampere supports young people's summer employment in many ways

  • Summer traineeships in the Tutustu työelämään ja tienaa (‘Get to know working life and earn’) programme: Young people in Tampere aged 15–17 are offered 120 'Get to know working life and earn' summer traineeships of either one or two weeks. Traineeship positions are available, for example, in youth services, early childhood education and care, sports services, communications and the environmental sector. The positions will be filled by the end of March. All applicants will be informed of the selections by email. We therefore hope that young people will remember to monitor their email after the application period ends.

  • Summer job voucher: Young people in Tampere aged 15–17 can apply for the City of Tampere’s summer job voucher. The city will give out 250 vouchers, which are worth EUR 320. The voucher makes it easier for young people to find employment in companies, associations and clubs.

  • Summer entrepreneurship voucher: The city encourages summer entrepreneurship together with the local network of entrepreneurs. The Kesäyrittäjyys (‘Summer Entrepreneurship’) campaign will launch in February, and more information on the application process will be given then.

  • The Kesäduuni 2023 (‘Summer Jobs 2023’) campaign of the city's employment services brings 17–30-year-old job seekers together with the summer jobs of companies. You can apply for the positions on the campaign website.
