People under 60 years of age may schedule an appointment to get their third vaccination if at least five months have passed from the second vaccination, a fourth vaccination is recommended for severely immunodeficient persons

Vaccinations for the elderly in Tampere are now at a stage where people under 60 years of age may schedule an appointment to get their third vaccination if at least five months have passed from the second vaccination. You can book an appointment at the vaccination unit in Hatanpää or at your personal health centre.

THL recommends a fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine for people aged 12 and over with severely impaired immune function. The booster shot may be given 3 to 4 months after the third vaccination. Severely immunodeficient people are at higher risk of serious disease than the rest of the population. The fourth vaccination is considered to be a booster shot corresponding to the third vaccination in the general population.

Persons with any of the following diseases or conditions are considered to be severely immunodeficient:

  • Organ transplant
  • Stem cell transplant
  • Severe to moderate congenital immunodeficiency
  • Immunosuppressive cancer therapy
  • Treatment of autoimmune diseases with immunosuppressive biologics or JAK inhibitors
  • Dialysis and severe chronic renal insufficiency
  • Advanced or untreated HIV
  • Other severe immunosuppressive conditions as assessed by a physician.

Coronavirus vaccinations by appointment

Vaccinations are given by appointment at the vaccination unit in Hatanpää and at health centres . You can choose your preferred health centre for the appointment.

You can book an appointment either online or by calling the health care counselling service on 03 5657 0023 (choose line 2), open 7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.

Who gets the vaccine and when?

All people over 12 years of age are eligible to get the coronavirus vaccine. You can also book an appointment for children ages 5–11 belonging to risk groups and children ages 5–11 who have severely immunodeficient people close to them. COVID-19 vaccination is carried out at the vaccination unit in Hatanpää .

You are eligible to receive a second shot if at least six weeks have passed since the first vaccination.

Third vaccination:

– In patients over 60 years of age and External linkin patients over 18 years of age belonging to medical risk groups 1 or 2 , a third vaccination may be given 3 to 4 months after the second vaccination.

– Those aged 18–59 can get a third dose of the vaccine if at least five months have passed from the second vaccination.

- For people aged 12 and over with severely impaired immune function can get a third dose of the vaccine if at least two months have passed from the second vaccination.

Fourth vaccination:

- For people aged 12 and over with severely impaired immune function. The booster shot may be given 3 to 4 months after the third vaccination.
