This year we are celebrating Tampere’s 241st anniversary. Due to exceptional circumstances, the full programme for Tampere Day will be organised online. Tampere Day will be celebrated on 1–4 October with an assorted programme including live webcasts and video recordings.

At 5 pm on the actual Tampere Day on 1 October, we can all watch the Tampere Day award ceremony live from the Old City Hall. Every Tampere Day, the city traditionally rewards commendable individuals whose life’s work or activities have contributed to the development of Tampere and the well-being of its citizens. The city has awarded this prize since 1959. In addition to the Tampere Award, the City of Tampere awards first-class honorary gold medals to citizens of significant merit. In previous years, the award ceremony has been held at the Old City Hall as a part of the anniversary gala of the city, but this year, due to the exceptional situation, the gala will not be organised. After the award ceremony, the Tampere Philharmonic salon orchestra will give a performance with the bass-baritone Juha Uusitalo as the soloist. The live webcast is available on the city’s website at The recording of the event can be watched later on the same website.

The Tampere Day live concert is held on Saturday 3 October from 6 pm at the UROS LIVE arena construction site. The featured artist at this unique concert is Kaija Koo. The Tampere Philharmonic Choir will also perform at the concert. The Tampere Day concert is the first public performance broadcast from the UROS LIVE arena. The concert venue still remains under construction. The 45-minute concert is arranged safely without a live audience.

During daytime on Sunday, we will organise guided virtual tours that your whole family can participate in to learn more about your hometown in a new way. We have collected good tips and guides that you can use to self-organise excursions to different destinations. In addition to excursions, there is a wide online programme for Sunday.
