Pupils starting grades one and two: applications are now accepted to morning and afternoon activities and Eppu club activities
The application period for morning and afternoon activities and for Eppu club activities for the next school year 2020–2021 in Tampere has begun. This application period concerns children currently participating in preschool education who will start school in August 2020. Furthermore, this application period concerns first grade pupils who will start second grade in August 2020. Applications must be submitted by 21 January 2020.
Morning and afternoon activities include the Eppu club activities at schools together with preschool education-aged children provided by the city, and the morning and afternoon activities provided by private operators.
Pupils in the first and second grades in basic education have the possibility to apply for the morning and afternoon activities if both parents are working or studying.
A place can also be granted due to other special reasons. Other special reasons are compelling needs of the family or the child, and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. In order to refer to a special reason, the guardian must include in the application an expert analysis or assessment of the child’s need.
Afternoon activities are available after school from midday until 5 p.m. Some groups also offer morning activities from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., depending on demand.
Families may select their requirement for the services from among three options: 1–3 h/day, 3–4.5 h/day or 4.5–6 h/day. The service fees are determined according to the option chosen. In groups offering morning activities, the hours can be divided between the morning and the afternoon in such a way that the total number of hours chosen by the family does not exceed the limit.
It is also possible to apply for a place in services providing child care services for shift workers, if necessary.
The application method is an online application form available on the City of Tampere website concerning morning and afternoon activities. More information is available on the website or can be requested sending e-mail to apip.palveluohjaus(at)tampere.fi
