The Summer Park Concert Series begins

Published 30.5.2017 13.54

The Summer Park Concert Series will once again bring life to the parks and yards of Tampere with music and dance performances. Groups of local artists will perform rock, country, choral music and much more from late May until August around the city. The programme for the park concert series has now been published on the new website, which presents all 150 performers to the public. Website users can also create a customised event calendar for the summer. The first concert takes place at Näsinpuisto on Tuesday 30 May.

A total of 215 groups of artists applied for the concert series. Cultural Affairs has received large numbers of applications for several years. Although more concert days have been added to the programme - for instance, on Laikunlava and at the Stable Yards - room could not be found for all those interested in participating.

In addition to the stages of Laikunlava and the Stable Yards, weekly concert venues include the Hatanpää Arboretum, Amuri Museum of Workers’ Housing and Haihara Art Centre. Concerts will also be held in the yards of service centres, particularly in early summer. There will be individual concerts in other parks in the city centre and in different neighbourhoods.

The Summer Park Concert Series in Tampere is Finland’s largest series of outdoor concerts that focuses on local artists. The series is organised by the Cultural Affairs department of the City of Tampere, in cooperation with the concert venues and the performing artists.
