60 children from a private day care centre to the City’s day care centres

Published 2.9.2016 14.33

The City of Tampere is urgently arranging places for more than 60 children in its day care centres located in the city centre area. The children are moving to day care organised by the City from a private day care centre as the Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland decided to order the operations of the private day care centre to be suspended starting from Monday, 5 September 2016.

The decision is based on an inspection conducted by the Regional State Administrative Agency in cooperation with the City of Tampere.

On Thursday, 1 September 2016, the City of Tampere organised a briefing for the guardians of the children who had been in care in this private unit. The City is offering the children remaining without day care a place in municipal day care in its day care centres located in the city centre area starting from Monday, 5 September 2016. The goal is to place children in day care centres in their current, familiar groups.

Guardians may request additional information about replacement day care from Day care customer guidance (the early childhood education case management) in Tampere, tel. +358 (0)40 800 7260 (Mon–Fri from 9 a.m. to 12 noon) or e-mail paivahoito.palveluohjaus(at)tampere.fi.

According to the Regional State Administrative Agency’s decision, the running of the operations of the English International School of Tampere private day care centre does not meet the conditions set in the Act on Private Social Services (Section 4). Severe and recurring deficiencies have been detected in the qualifications of the personnel and the running of the operations.
