Rental housing

You can send an application for a rented dwelling directly to companies or organisations that rent housing. On the home pages these organisations, you can find further information about searching for a home, dwellings and their location in Tampere. You can also submit an apartment application on an organisation’s website. This page shows contact details for organisations that offer rented housing in Tampere.

Rented housing in Tampere can be non-subsidized or reasonably priced state-subsidized housing.

State-subsidized housing

Inhabitants for state-subsidized housing are selected on the basis of the need for a home, assets and income, and the apartments are subject to a maximum limit of assets determined by the number of persons in the applicant household.

Right-of-occupancy dwellings

A right-of-occupancy dwelling is an alternative to a rented or owner-occupied home. If you pay the right-of-occupancy fee, usually 15% of the home’s purchase price, and then a monthly maintenance charge, you obtain the right to possess the home as if it were an owner-occupied dwelling. If you relinquish the right of occupancy, you are refunded the right-of-occupancy fee, adjusted with the construction cost index.

Persons who have turned 18 years old can apply for right-of-occupancy dwellings. There are no income limits. Applicants or adult family members may have assets at most 50% of the value of the right-of-occupancy dwelling acquired and they may not own an owner-occupied dwelling in the area of the dwelling. The conditions on assets do not apply to applicants over 55 years of age or to persons changing from one right-of-occupancy dwelling to another.

Applying for a right-of-occupancy dwelling

In order to apply for a right-of-occupancy dwelling, you need a queue number. A queue number for applying for right-of-occupancy dwelling is provided by the The Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA).
