Tampere will host the European Basketball Championships for 18-year-old men in 2024.

The Finnish Basketball Association and the City of Tampere have signed an agreement to organise the European Basketball Championships for 18-year-old men in Tampere in 2024. The main venue will be the Hakametsä Ice Hall in Tampere.

The European Championships for 18-year-olds will bring together 16 of Europe's best basketball nations in Tampere in July-August 2024. A year later, Tampere will also host one of the first legs of the European Men's Championships.

- Tampere has been working with the Finnish Basketball Association for many years at various levels. For young talent, it will be great to host the U18 European Championship in 2024 and we look forward to working together on this project. Great games coming up - we are ready, says Perttu Pesä, Event Director of the City of Tampere.

This is only the third time that the European Youth Championship has been organised in Finland. The first, European Championships for 16-year-old women, were held in 1982 in Forssa and Uusikaupunki. The second European Championship for 20-year-olds was held in Helsinki in 2016.
