These workshops will focus on ecological environmental art and sculptures made from scrap materials. The grant will be used to build the framework and organise free art workshops so that the yard can serve as an open meeting place for urban culture throughout the summer.

Come and join in growing street art! The Let’s GROW graffiti project is creating a communal moss graffiti artwork in Tampere that grows using the power of nature. Everyone can take part in the brainstorming session in Pyynikki Forest, including children, who can bring their toys to be photographed with moss. The collaborative artwork will bring greenery to the city, bring together people of different ages and backgrounds, and invite them to follow nature's own growth art throughout the summer.

A communal sustainable development event held on Tahmela beach on Saturday in May to mark the start of the summer and growing season, and in September in the spirit of the harvest. The event brings together local residents and other city dwellers interested in mental health to discuss environmentally friendly food, urban farming, and the circular and sharing economy! There will be a flea market, food tastings, and refreshing information and activities.

Let's celebrate the valuable local forest shared by the people of Tampere on Finnish Nature Day, 29 August, 2026, in the Kauppi-Niihama forest and at the Niihama cabin! The program includes nature and art experiences you can create and experience yourself, performances, and the opportunity to sleep outdoors! The art forest will be home to thought-provoking and exciting workshops, performances, music, literary art, and much more, all promoting local nature and biodiversity. You can also help prepare and implement the event if you wish!

Farmoi kicks off the summer with a lively day full of flavor and fun! Welcome to plan community excursions to natural forests located in different parts of Tampere! During the excursions, we will learn about the characteristics of natural forests and identify species that are typical of different types of natural forests. We will also discuss how we can act to protect valuable natural forests. Community excursions raise awareness and visibility of Tampere's valuable natural forests. Excursion participants enjoy community activities and the health benefits of forests.

The bike workshop is a free and open community space where you can repair your bicycle and learn maintenance skills. It offers basic tools as well as specialised equipment needed for bike repairs. The workshop is run by volunteers, who are happy to help with repairs if needed.

The Tampere Truffle Festival is a free and open event for everyone, where the mysterious world of truffles meets the impressive scent-tracking skills of dogs and the fresh flavours of Finnish food culture. The festival highlights sustainable mobility, biodiversity, and eco-friendly local produce. You’ll have the chance to taste Finnish wild truffles, learn about how they’re cultivated, and witness how nature, food, and community thrive hand in hand – right here in Tampere, the truffle capital of Finland.

Tesoma together – all year round! In spring, we decorate Easter egg trees and tune up our bikes. Summer kicks off with activities for children and young people, Neighbourhood Week celebrations, and community gardening. In autumn, the whole area comes together for Tesoma Day with a harvest picnic, and in winter we meet at the recycling festival. The programme includes trash art, music, and open mic opportunities. All events are free and open to everyone – come and help make Tesoma even more vibrant – YOUR TESOMA!

Forest Tales – an art and nature trail. Imagine a path where a blackbird sings above a wash of colour, an owl whispers ancient wisdom, and a dragonfly brings light to the dusk. This trail invites wanderers to pause and connect with nature – to experience its rich diversity and timeless myths through art. By day, sculptures lead the way into a playful adventure; as evening falls, light awakens the forest’s magic. A free and open experience where art and nature breathe as one.

Let’s grow harvest and community together! The Vehmainen Garden Party brings together residents of all ages. We’ll plant a new kitchen garden on the grounds of Vehmainen School, enjoy music and shared activities, and celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vehmainen Association. As part of the celebration, we’ll establish a public fruit and berry garden, which will be cared for jointly by pupils and local residents. The garden will offer joy, produce, and meaningful encounters for the community for years to come.

ViinikkalaFest – a village in the city! This cheerful, free event in Tampere returns for the third time on 22 August 2026, bringing together local residents, businesses, associations, and enthusiastic visitors from near and far for a fun-filled family day in Viinikanpuisto Park. This year’s special theme is the circular and sharing economy. The festival offers a diverse programme and live music performances. The evening invites everyone to enjoy a relaxed picnic together in the cosy surroundings of Viinikanpuisto.

Virtavesien Hoitoyhdistys association is organizing two stream restoration events in Vihioja and Tasanne, and a stream caretaker course with Ahlmann Edu. The stream restroration events will contain creating breeding and shelter areas for trout living in the streams. Both the event and the course are open to anyone interested in the activities and are free of charge.

Would you like to travel smoothly, sustainably and free of charge? Now you have the chance to try out an electric cargo bike – completely free! Families living in Tampere (including individuals, couples and families with children) can borrow an electric cargo bike for everyday journeys for a period of 1 to 4 weeks – whether it’s commuting, shopping, hobbies or transporting children. A cargo bike can replace a car in many situations. It’s practical, eco-friendly and surprisingly versatile. Between 5 and 10 families can be selected to take part in the trial.

The aim is to establish a community garden at the Rahola allotment garden, where children with their families and passers-by can grow plants, learn about nature, and enjoy the joy of doing things together. In collaboration with local schools and the gardening association, the project promotes nature education, sustainable everyday practices, and a sense of community through hands-on activities – using raised beds and events as key tools. Come and experience the richness of nature and the joys of urban gardening!

Community nature event at Suolijärvi Lake in Hervanta, Tampere. A community-focused nature event will be held at Suolijärvi in Hervanta, Tampere. Social and health organisations will be present to showcase their activities. Programme highlights: introduction to the Mielen reitti nature trail, opportunity to enjoy the sauna, campfire grilling with sausages and traditional pot-brewed coffee, café and personal experience talks. A guided group cycling trip to Suolijärvi will be organised from the city centre. The main theme of the event is to highlight the wellbeing benefits of nature.

Community eco-cooking at the Girls’ House: Young people come together to cook using organic and locally sourced ingredients, plan celebrations, and explore urban gardening. The activities strengthen community spirit, inclusion, and sustainable development by offering hands-on experiences in ecological choices, collaboration, and shared success. Eco-cooking encourages young people to adopt environmentally conscious and sustainable lifestyles.

Target group: Young people aged 12–29 from the Pirkanmaa region who identify as girls or women, or are exploring their identity as girls, with respect for gender diversity
