Career coaching provides you with information, counselling, guidance, and support to help you to clarify your career choices and options, to apply for education, and to develop your working life skills. During the coaching, you will make a feasible career plan for yourself.

Career coaching is practical and functional. It often includes familiarization with educational institutions and with work. It can also include a variety of short working life permit and certificate trainings. In addition to personal guidance, you receive information and support from other participants in the coaching.

Acknowledging your competences and making good use of your strengths is an essential part of job-seeking. Yet identifying it may be difficult. You may make an inventory of your competences with the ForeAmmatti tool in the web. Based on your results, you will be directed to a job or to training or education.

You get a skill report that describes your labour market position, possible actions to improve your position, and suggestions on viable jobs and suitable education. Your OMA coach reviews the results of the report with you and directs you forward.

If you are in-between jobs or at a risk of becoming unemployed, you may qualify for labour market training. It mainly consists of vocational education and training in view of vocational upper secondary, further, or complementary qualifications. It also prepares for entrepreneurial activities. Labour market training is free of charge, entitles you to the same benefits that you would receive when unemployed, and possibly includes compensation for travel and maintenance costs too.

If you are thinking about changing careers, vocational and career guidance helps in considering and clarifying educational and career options free of charge. When you describe your situation and your dreams to someone else, you too will get a better idea of what you should aim for and what you could do to achieve your goal. A vocational psychologist helps you to develop a career plan that matches your situation, all the while taking into consideration the labour markets’ current opportunities. This will help you to reach a sustainable solution.

Each individual guidance discussion lasts for one hour. You can talk with the same psychologist on one or more occasions. In addition to discussions, psychological tests, education or work try-outs, and interim tasks can be included in the guidance.
