General information about the grant system
General principles
Grants can only be awarded to activities that comply with the City of Tampere’s general principles for grants.
Funding may be granted for regular association activities as well as for organizing individual events or projects. The city also awards personal grants for artistic work.
The City of Tampere can award grants to non-profit activities that align with the city’s values, support the implementation of strategic goals, and complement the city’s own service provision.
The general principles for grants are available on the General principles page.
Grant preparation
The most recent grant-type-specific award criteria approved by the relevant decision-making body (committee or sub-committee) guide the preparation of grant applications in more detail than the general principles for grants.
Preparation refers to the process of reviewing and comparing applications. During this phase, applications may also be reassigned from one grant category to another if the content described in the application better aligns with the award criteria of a different category.
Preparers make grant proposals, meaning suggestions for approved amounts or rejections, to decision-making bodies based on these principles.
The responsible bodies for each type of grant review the updated award criteria if the preparers propose changes before the next year’s application round.
Responsible persons
Each grant type has designated responsible persons who can confirm in advance whether the applicant is applying under the correct grant category. These individuals are listed on the Grant contact information and guidance page.
In addition, each grant category has its own preparer, whose contact details can be found on the specific page for that grant category.
