Inspired by nature and diverse sustainability, the program features rhyme, story and craft workshops for different age groups, along with film, dance and theatre performances. Visitors can also learn about sustainability work at the Adult Education Centre, discover the world of bees, join a nature walk, and explore how these themes are reflected in art exhibitions using various techniques.
– The program of Sampola Nature Night is based on the sustainability values of the Adult Education Centre. For example, the handicraft art exhibition and craft workshops guide us toward awareness in choosing more sustainable materials, while the literary workshops invite us to imagine alternative futures. The ability to view the future as a possibility is also a key sustainability skill, says project planner Vera Kuusinen.
At Sampola Library, visitors can join book recommendation sessions, a quiz, and an escape room game, meet author Laura Ertimo, and create pins and 3D artworks.
The Sampola recycling table will serve all event visitors, and during Nature Night you can also swap plants there.
The program will be held in Finnish, but most activities are accessible even for those who do not speak the language.
The students’ association of The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region will set up a pop-up café in Sampola’s lobby next to the main staircase, in front of the teachers’ lounge. The café will be open from 4pm to 8:45pm, accepting both cash and card payments.
The event is free of charge, and all facilities in Sampola are accessible.
Sampola Nature Night is the closing event of the Syke 2 – Ecosocial Education and Sustainable Development project, focusing on ecosocial education, organized by The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region in cooperation with Sampola Library. The Syke 2 project is funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education until 31 December 2025.
